suez canal part view

The final final, event of the Suez Veterans' Association will be the Laying-Up of the Association Standard.
This will be on the afternoon of Sunday 29th March 2020 at Sunderland Minster.

Arrangments are going ahead with this event and more details will be added here when they are available.

The arrangements are coming along nicely, the Standard Bearer will have four escorts supplied by the
Lancashire Fusiliers. (They did serve in the Canal Zone.)
We are well into sorting out the Order of Service with the Minster Provost, and refreshments will be served
after the Service.   Are you coming?  It will be good to see you there.

If you are thinking of attending this service, would you please let me, or Cedric Barker know.
This will give us an idea of how many people to cater for.

Some members (including myself and Liz) have already booked in at the Sunderland City Centre
Premier Inn, 1-3 Hind Street, Sunderland, SR1 3QD,
for either one or two nights, will you join us? -
A bit of a reunion perhaps.

n.b. This is not a recommendation of the hotel, it was picked from the Internet as being close to the Minster.

The following e-mail has been received and is
included here to see if anyone is interested.

I work for UK TV Production Company Wall to Wall Media, the makers of 'Long Lost Family' and 'Who Do You Think You Are'. We are currently casting for a new programme provisionally entitled 'Lost Love Stories'.
The programme will document the journey of those keen to reconnect with someone special from their past.

Told against a backdrop of rich social history, we will feature stories of romances broken apart by circumstance - be it war, migration or another life event.

We are particularly keen to feature a wartime themed love story after being inspired by a recent news item which saw a D-Day war veteran who was reunited with his French sweetheart after spending 75 years apart. It would be fantastic if we could help those who have always thought of reconnecting with a loved one from the past.

We are currently looking for British veterans and volunteers who may have been separated from a loved one during the Suez Emergency.
We are only intending to feature stories where both parties are single and happy to meet as friends and all information shared with us will be treated as confidential.

Is this something your organisation would be able to help us spread the word about?

Do contact me if you require any more information or would like to discuss further.

Kind regards

If you are one of these people, interested and would like to be considered, contact me at the e-mail address at the foot of the page and I will put you in touch with Zyreeta.
